From childhood best friends to ROXD co-founders. Learn more about the ROXD team.
I’ve been working as a full-time coach in the fitness industry since 2017, which unfortunately begins to show my age. I’ve spent the majority of those years on the gym floor working with my clients face to face, both personal training and group classes. Over the past few years a lot more of my time is spent behind the computer screen, coaching and programming, but with the ability to reach and help even more people.
I’ve always loved being able to bring people together through fitness; and no matter what your fitness ability or experience is, fitness is the universal language. I have met some of my closest friends through training and I would love to be able to do this for others. In 2019 I bought CrossFit Vauxhall (CFV) with the goal of turning into a bustling hub for group exercise in London. After feeling like I had achieved that goal, late in 2022 I sold the gym in pursuit of my next challenge. It was during my time at CFV where I created “Freshold Friday”; a session open to anyone, and free to everyone. An opportunity to keep me company during my longer, tougher sessions but to connect and meet other like-minded people who you may have otherwise never met. This it what it’s all about and a theme that we’ll continue to uphold as part of ROXD’s mission in the world of fitness racing.
That’s where we find ROXD. A blend of all of my passions and experience. Blending my love for creativity and design with my knowledge in fitness and training. I love that ROXD is super accessible, with it’s roots deeply embedded in community fitness- it’s always more fun with other people.
I’m looking forward to meeting and training with all of you in the future.
As the Co-Founder of ROXD, Huw combines scientific expertise, creativity, and a passion for building communities. His journey began at Imperial College London, where he studied Biomedical Science. Feeling the lack of a welcoming and accessible training community, he founded the IC Barbell Club with a clear mission: to make training fun and inclusive, breaking down the barriers often associated with strength training.
Eager to deepen his understanding of exercise physiology, Huw pursued a Master’s in Applied Physiology at King’s College London. This academic foundation, paired with his qualifications as a personal trainer, allows him to blend scientific principles with practical application—creating training programs that are both effective and empowering.
In addition to his training expertise, Huw is a self-taught graphic and web designer, bringing a creative edge to ROXD. Over the past five years, he has built e-commerce businesses across various niches, refining his skills in design, branding, and customer experience.
“My mission with ROXD is to combine my love for fitness, creativity, and community to build something more than just a brand—it’s about creating a space where everyone feels empowered to push their limits and enjoy the journey. Whether I’m designing the ROXD website, crafting new merch, or perfecting the details, I’m always focused on reflecting this vision.”
For Huw, the gym has always been more than a place to train—it’s a playground for connection, growth, and shared experiences. Through ROXD, he hopes to help others find that same sense of belonging while providing the tools they need to succeed in their fitness journeys.
